GET YOUR 'LIBRARY' CARD

Maybe you need a chop saw for the day to cut some laminate flooring, or a ladder to get on the roof and clean the gutters, or simply a hammer to hang some pictures. The new Vancouver Tool Library has got you covered.

Yup, that's right. No need to buy expensive power tools that will only get used once and then collect dust and take up space, the Tool Library will lend you what you need to get the job done.

The library is located at 3448 Commercial St (just south of E. 18th Ave) and the grand opening is Saturday, July 16. You'll need to become a member to start borrowing tools. Your initial membership is $50 which includes one member share and your first year's $30 maintenance fee to keep all the tools in working order.

I'm not surprised that this idea has sprung from the bright minds and community friendly peeps around Commercial Dr. Over the past 8-10 years the area has been beseiged by reno madness as creative families, couples, friends, and businesses have been rehabbing and rehabilitating some of the city's most beautiful heritage homes.

So say goodbye to that nasty wall that's been slowly closing in on you - they have a sledge hammer and a reciprocrating saw that will take care of it. Do us a favour though, and make sure it's not a load bearing wall before taking the first swing, okay?

Check out all the details HERE at the Vancouver Tool Library website.
