MENDOZA!

Peeps, the age of the laneway house is upon us - and that's mostly a good thing.

The laneway movement is part of Vancouver's EcoCity Program. While the program's intent is to increase density, it's meant to do so in a sustainable way. Increasing housing choices for Vancouverites and hopefully, reducing our carbon footprint.

Recently, the ever awesome architecture and interior design blog, Contemporist, featured the city's first and still one of the best examples of what can be accomplished under Vancouver's Laneway House Regulations.

The Mendoza house, constructed by builder Lanefab, features everything a laneway house should include (IMHO), contemporary design, ample space (710 sq. ft), open plan and green features, such as triple glazed windows.

The Mendoza house is on a fairly standard 33' X 122' foot lot, the smallest frontage allowed under the current regulations.

Want to check it for reals? - the Mendoza house is at the rear of 2703 McGill St., but be discreet OK. This beauty has a tenant, and a very happy one, I'm sure.
