Craft beer, philanthropy, and derby car racing. Could there possibly be an event that brings together three entities more fantastic than this? We think not!

What exactly is a beer can derby, you may ask? Mostly the same as the Boy Scout derbies of your childhood, but with more craft beer involved. The major difference is that all racecars must be made out of at least one recognizable beer can – we can’t wait to put our thinkin’ and drinkin’ caps on and get creative with this one.

Prizes will be awarded for the fastest and the best-looking cars (including two beer snack prize kits courtesy of Blu, filled with goodies to go with your craft beer and to help you with your hangover the next day). The event is being sponsored by a number of local craft breweries, so whether or not you win a trophy, you can take solace knowing that the finest brews will be a flowin’. And if you need more convincing to mosey on down to this fabulous event, 100% of the proceeds will go directly to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank.
